Technical Preview

The term Technical Preview is used both for features and for external interfaces and in somewhat different meanings:

Features

A feature that is labelled as Technical Preview is intended for lab tests and concept evaluation. It is unsupported by ARRIS and any deployment/field test is carried out on the responsibility of the customer. Features with Technical Preview status have not reached QA in our System Itegration & Test, and interfaces associated with the feature may change without being backwards compatible. The term refers to functionality that is in the code and that may work, but it is not covered by any SLA terms. On the other hand, a PA (Product Availability) feature is supported under SLA and maintenance releases to this release will continue to support the feature.

External interfaces

An interface or part of an interface that is labelled as Technical Preview has no backwards compatibility commitment. It may change in future releases and even be removed. New interfaces are always introduced as Technical Preview and set PA when used by customers and proven to be mature. Consequently it will be common that a feature that is PA (that is not Technical Preview) many times is exposed through an interface that is Technical Preview. It means that the feature will be supported within maintenance releases but its interfaces may change.
