Change multicast address for the metadata channel

On the metadata channel the following information is sent:

Configurations
Date and time
Boot image configuration information
Any generic objects of type file or xmlfile

The metadata channel uses a multicast address, which can be changed by using a DHCP option. An example of the metadata channel configuration is shown in the Infocast server example.

It is also important to change the Infocast client configuration, so that the IP-STB will listen to the new metadata channel.

Precondition

Main flow

Add or change the DHCP option option-128 in the DHCP configuration file (e.g. /etc/dhcpd.conf for a Linux DHCP server) to the multicast address preferred.
Restart the DHCP service.
Change the definition of the metadata channel in the Infocast server configuration file. A typical example of the metadata channel definition is shown below. Change the <ip-address> and the <ip-port-number> to the multicast address preferred. See example below:

Change the Infocast client configuration to match the new metadata channel.
Restart the active Infocast server:
service infocastserverd restart

Keep the notes under Managing an environment with redundant KreaTV Infocast Servers in mind if you have several active KreaTV Infocast Servers in your network.

Post condition

The multicast address set in step 3 is used for the metadata channel and will be effective for rebooted KreaTV IP-STB units.

KreaTV IP-STB units that have not been rebooted after the change of metadata channel address will not get any metadata (and therefore also no data) until they are rebooted. This means that boxes that are not rebooted will not notice any changes in for example channel table or portal URLs.
