IP-STB Identification

Server side identification

The HTTP protocol allows the clients to identify themselves using a user-agent header field. This enables distinguishing the Portal Application software, usually for statistical purposes or for tracing of protocol violations.

The KreaTV Portal application will identify itself with a user-agent defined by CFG_PORTAL_USERAGENT which is a string similar to this:

Mozilla/5.0 (Linux) AppleWebKit/x.y.z (KHTML, like Gecko) Ekioh/a.b Safari/x.y.z

Client side identification

On the client side (in the IP-STB) it is possible to find out if a portal page is displayed on a KreaTV IP-STB by checking for the existence of platform services, for example the informationService object.
