Splash Screen

During boot, the KreaTV boot loader DBL (dynamic boot loader) will display some graphics on the screen. The on-screen graphics are known as a Splash Screen, and indicate the boot progress.

Devices running the KreaTV boot loader DBL 4.x show the splash image until an error occurs during the boot process which will be presented with an error message.

The STB will use a fixed resolution for this image, and will show a signal on all video outputs simultaneously: HDMI/components and SCART (or available analog video outputs). It is shown as soon as it is available (when a valid image is found in the flash memory, or over the network), and it will replace the default background used by the boot loader.

In KreaTV boot loader DBL 6.5 and newer, the splash will be center cut out when operating in NTSC/480p mode. Horizontal lines 48-528 will then be visible.

A progress bar will be shown during a software upgrade.

Note that in KreaTV 5 it is now required that you sign the splash image.See here for details on how to do this.

Format

The splash screen is a standard 720x576 pixel, 24-bit BMP image or RLE 8-bit (256 color). It is advisable to use RLE to reduce the size, and therefore the download time.

Download progress area

A percentage bar showing the progress of the software download will be drawn onto the splash image. The placement of the progress bar is a bit different depending on the DBL version.

For DBL 5.x and 6.0.y, the progress bar measures 282x25 pixels and its top-left corner is (219, 372).

For DBL 6.1-6.4, the progress bar measures 400x20 pixels and its top-left corner is (160, 350).

For DBL 6.5 and newer, the progress bar measures 400x20 pixels and is horizontally centered at a vertical position at 60.8% of the active vertical resolution measured from the top of the screen rounded to closest pixel. This translates to the position (160, 350) in PAL mode and the position (160, 340) in NTSC mode relative to the splash image top-left corner.
